  -Peg Gorsky, NYS LMT
Peg is a graduate of The Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy in Albany with seven years experience. She is  nationally certified, has medical massage training through Red Pines Training Center in Albany, and energy medicine training through Healing the Light Body School (The Four Winds Society.) Peg's unique therapeutic offerings include energy integration work, a symphonic Swedish massage technique and Deep Tissue treatments to release connective tissue restrictions in the body and to break up any restrictive scar tissue. It has been known to help relieve chronic tension, to increase the body's range of motion, to improve posture and to enhance the natural harmony of the entire body. Peg's intention is to hold a safe place for you to access your own inner healing abilities through her intuitive massage. She believes that as you allow yourself to release anything which does not serve you; whether it's physical, emotional or spiritual, you will come to a place of balance and ease. Her intuitive massage will facilitate the relief of discomfort, tension and stress. With this accomplished, you can re-enter you life from a calm, centered and  peaceful place.
Peg's specialties:  Swedish Massage, Energy Work, Deep Tissue Massage,  & Couples Massage

We invite you to come in & get to know all of our Massage Therapists.  Everyone at White Sands takes pride in getting to know our clients so that we can truly understand their needs and help them to feel their very best with a customized massage that is unique to only the client.

National Anxiety & Depression Awareness-Massage Can Help!

May 1st - 7th was National Anxiety & Depression Awareness Week, so I thought it would be appropriate to talk about how massage can help. I mean, is it just me or does it seem like people are just a bit depressed these days?  I can see the stress on our clients' faces as they walk in the door. More than ever, it seems like they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. The usual banter I used to see among certain clients or certain business professionals I deal with just isn't there. I feel like at any given moment, people are going to crack!

Before I give a client a massage, I try to imagine what pressures they feel in their world. Maybe they are under an incredible amount of stress at work. Many of my clients are successful and have devoted a lot of time to their careers, yet find themselves in competition with younger professionals just to stay in the game. Conversely, the young professionals are so strung out trying to cram work obligations in with their constant social networking to stay "in the know" because they feel it gives their career an edge.  Or perhaps people are adjusting to a new situation at home or feeling like their home has to be completely clean and perfect all of the time.  Whatever the case may be, if we stop to think about the fact that every single one of us feels pressure in some way, we may be a bit more empathetic to members of our home and work community...and we wouldn't feel so alone or feel so much tension.

The ever-disappointing weather is also bringing people down. First, we dealt with a ferocious winter, now, a soggy, dreary spring. It's no wonder our moods are low. We need the warmth and sunshine already!  This weather, combined with our cell phones constantly buzzing from people wanting our immediate attention, has left us a bit depleted.  What we need is good old-fashioned solitude, even for just an hour. It's amazing how restorative 60 minutes of uninterrupted "zoning out" and near-silence can be!  For most people, those 60 or 90 minutes of massage time is the only time they get a little peace and quiet or time to reflect.

You've already felt how instantly soothing a massage treatment can be, but are you aware of it's long-term health benefits?  According to the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals website, people who regularly schedule massage therapy treatments experience:
  • Decreased Anxiety and Depression
  • Enhanced Immunity
  • Enhanced Sleep Quality
  • Greater Energy
  • Improved Concentration
  • Increased Circulation
  • Reduced Fatigue
We invite you to come in, ignore your cell phone for a bit, take in the aromas of mood-enhancing essential oils and experience massage therapy on a regular basis. Try it once a week or once a month. Make it a goal to see how your overall mood shifts.  We promise to take very good care of you! :-)
